19-year-old Yara Shahidi is accustomed to having her makeup done by professionals. It’s one of the perks that come with the job of being an A-list celebrity. And while we all wish we had someone to groom our feral brows and gloss over our skin, the Grownish star says she feels most beautiful when she takes care of herself, and that includes doing her own makeup. In a tutorial posted to her Instagram, The Sun Is Also A Star actress talks us through her playful beauty routine, which involves festival friendly eye makeup, and beauty affirmations.
“It may sound super cheesy, but I generally feel the most beautiful when Iโm listening to great music and when Iโve been taking care of myself,โ shares Yara. โIt also feels nice to engage makeup when I want to, rather feel like oh this is mandatory for me to feel done up or professional.โ According to the actress, “your face is a pallet.” We imagine that same ethos inspires many of her head turning beauty looks like the time she dyed her eyebrows purple.
There was also that one time she artfully rocked jewels as eyeshadow, proving you don’t have to be an expert to do your makeup. You only have to have fun.
